Inspired by Gustav Klimt’s, The Kiss

Almost positively his most famous painting, the kiss. Did you know Gustav Klimt’s father was a gold and silver engraver? Klimt grew up in the art world, attending art school, opening an independent studio and was one of the founders for a school of painting.

Now let’s get to The Kiss. It’s said by art historians that this painting is thought to be of him and Emilie Lousie (who notwithstanding his relationships with other women, was his companion to the end of his life.

Obviously, when creating my piece, I had to include gold. It gives my painting the radiant shimmer Klimt mastered in his paintings. I used deep red to symbolize the passion of the two subjects yellow to bring more golden radiance and a muted orange to bring in the subtleness of the moment between the lovers. Finally, I add the pops of green to symbolize growing love and paying tribute to the flower filed the lovers stand on.

Totaling 9 1/2 inches diameter, this piece comes keyhole in the back of the panel for easy hanging.
